It’s been one month since the release of the Simple Login feature, so we take a look back on the launch and see what’s next.

Launching Simple Login

It’s been one month since Codex launched one of our most exciting updates to date. Nicknamed “Simple Login”, users can create accounts and upload their art and collectibles onto the blockchain (The Codex Registry) through their Google, Facebook and Microsoft accounts instead of through a blockchain wallet. A huge improvement for many users as navigating blockchain wallets can be a very arduous process, especially for those who aren’t blockchain savvy.

For more details on the Simple Login feature, read the announcement post here.

This was a crucial step for Codex; along with most of the blockchain community, we recognized the biggest obstacle for mainstream adoption of the technology was the difficulty in navigating the interfaces. By creating a user-friendly alternative, more people than ever are creating accounts on Codex and swiftly navigating through a blockchain product without the stress or time that the interfaces typically demand.

The Codex Registry has benefits for anyone who buys and sells art & collectibles, therefore it was critical that it was an easy process for more than just tech-savvy users. With a diverse and growing community, we designed the Simple Login in a way that was universally familiar to any person interested in maintaining the value of their collectibles online.

The Response

We were thrilled with the response over the last month to the Simple Login feature. A huge thank you to the Codex communities online who shared their excitement about the new feature. Community members from our Telegram, Twitter and LinkedIn reached out with stories and enthusiasm about how easy they found the update to be. Crypto artist Coldie saying “It could not be easier”, and Artist and leader of the #ArtProject Decentralized community, Jessica Angel exclaiming “This is amazing... It’s an example to follow”. Our team was available to help out any users with questions or inquiries, and it made for a seamless and exciting launch on our end as well.

Since launching a month ago on December 12th, almost three times as many accounts were created on Codex using the Simple Login rather than a blockchain wallet. Showcasing the community’s desire for a simple way to engage with the technology.

So, what’s next?

While users can still login with their MetaMask wallets, the Simple Login feature offers three additional forms of creating an account; Google, Facebook or Microsoft accounts. But what if someone doesn’t have one of those? We’re excited to announce our next big update, coming soon, users will be able to login and create an account using just their email. By the end of the Q1, users will be able to login and create an account just by entering their email address. At Codex, we’re dedicated to continuing to make managing and retaining value in your art and collectibles as easy as possible.

About Codex

Codex is the leading decentralized asset registry for the $2 trillion arts & collectibles (“A&C”) ecosystem, which includes art, fine wine, collectible cars, antiques, decorative arts, coins, watches, jewelry, and more. Powered by the CodexCoin native token, the Codex Protocol is open source, allowing third-party players in the A&C ecosystem to build applications and utilize the title system. Codex’s landmark application, Biddable, is a title-escrow system built on the Codex Protocol, which solves long-standing challenges in auctions: non-performing bidders, lack of privacy, and bidder access. The Codex Protocol and CodexCoin will be adopted as the only cryptocurrency by The Codex Consortium, a group of major stakeholders in the A&C space who facilitate over $6 Billion in sales to millions of bidders across tens of thousands of auctions from 5,000 auction houses in over 50 countries.
