Apple introduces the Battery Health in iOS 11.3 but currently in beta. The feature is built into Setting > Battery. Apple also working out the kinks and messaging for batteries at various level. If your iPhone had unexpected shutdowns, iOS restore it to its previous. Your iPhone will only restart if you experience an unexpected shutdown; until then, it’s clean slate.

Apple’s “dynamic performance management” that may slow down your phone to avoid unexpected shutdowns, you’ll be able to disable that feature. iPhone 8, iPhone 8+ and iPhone X use a different performance management system than older iPhones so Apple has implemented performance management features in the iPhone 6, iPhone 6+, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s+, iPhone SE, iPhone 7, and iPhone 7+. Unlucky iPhone 5s users can’t get this feature.

The Battery Health tab in iOS 11.3 will show one of five messages when you open it:

  • Performance is normal
  • Performance management (throttling) applied
  • Performance management turned off
  • Battery health unknown
  • Battery health degrade
