Do you know your team?
You’ve worked with your team for months. Delivered stories and features. You’ve even spoken about feelings in team retrospectives. But have you taken the time out to actually get to know them?
As a technical team lead it’s easy to get caught up in technical concerns. Frameworks, architecture, process and other factors that help the team deliver.
On the other hand, you still need to facilitate the team in working together to achieve a shared goal. Working together means building trust, and opening yourselves to each other.
Have many conversations with each member and make the conversation about them. Learn about they’re dreams and desires. Help them with things outside of work. Push them to reach higher.
But the most important thing is to listen and to learn.
