Bracing Myself for the Annual Thanksgiving Family Feud
Thanksgiving is approaching, which means there’s a chance of the dreaded family feud rearing its head.
Don’t get me wrong — our family has had some Thanksgivings that passed relatively drama-free.
But there’s always that possibility of tensions bubbling up when we all get together.
As I plan the menu and prepare to host this year, part of me looks forward to the usual traditions — cooking the turkey and apple pie, seeing loved ones, sharing in the feast.
But another part wonders and worries: will this be one of those years where underlying issues boil over?
It often starts innocuously.
A comment about an argument between Aunt and Uncle. A judgmental remark about a cousin’s questionable new partner.
By the time we sit down to eat, there’s no telling what might happen when all these relatives with differing opinions are together in one room.
