Some people, depending on how much of a garlic freak you are, eat it like it’s potato chips. Do we really know the amazing things and benefits that can happen once garlic enters our bodies? If you don’t know this article is for you!

Here are 5 ways garlic can be beneficial for your body:

1. It is highly nutritious and has very few calories- Garlic contains the following: magnesium Vitamin B6, Vitamin c, Selenium, and fiber. If your doctor tells you any of these levels are low in your blood and if the doctor can’t find the right supplement for you, eat garlic! There’s an excuse to splurge right?

2. Garlic can fight sickness, including a common cold- Ever get a cold? Have you tried every medication in the books and it just doesn’t go away? Well, guess what? Garlic can be considered a great way to fight a sickness or cold. So, next time you need an alternative to get rid of a cold, trash the over the counter stuff and use garlic instead. You’re welcome!

3. If you’re an athlete, you may perform better when taking garlic supplements- yeah, I know what you’re thinking……What, there’s garlic supplements for athletes? That’s crazy! Well, to be honest, I didn’t know this was a thing till just now. Get your garlic supplements while they're hot, athletes!

4. If you’re first giving garlic a try, start by putting it in your food- I do this ALL the time. Fresh garlic is my favorite thing ever! Even if you may suffer a few tiny side effects from eating the fresh garlic, it’s OK. It’s more good for you than bad.

5. Here’s a tip for maximizing garlic breath- when I get garlic breath it doesn’t bother me much. For others, though it could bother them. The alternative: snack on raw mint leaves, apples or lettuce to help cool it down it sounds weird, but it must work. Give it a go!

I always say fresh garlic is the best thing and that’s the truth. The next time you say to yourself, “I’m too lazy to go get it fresh, I’m just going to use the brine.” Don’t. Trust me, it’s gross. Go for the fresh good stuff. You’ll be super thankful you did!
