Blame: A Poem

Time to stop blaming myself
Now
I want to blame you

For all the things you said
You would do
But never did

I want to blame you
for the heartbreak
and the tears

But you’re responsible
For the past few
Good years

I want to blame you
For the way
I feel

But I can’t get the sweet memories
Out of my head
Reminding me it was all real

I used to think
You were a dream
Now I wish all this would be

I don’t want to blame myself
(Lord knows I’ve done it enough)
I want to blame you

But I can’t because
The truth is…
Blame doesn’t solve a damn thing
