A man I once dated said I intimidated him,
I replied “well — excuse me gentlemen”
(We were with friends)
I don’t make amends — for my
Cunning wit, and I
Can’t expect everyone to play the game
Yet I remain
Ever loyal to the cause
Because
I think the articulation of one’s thoughts
Is the only true way to get caught
Up in this life
Live present
I present, to you, my dear friends
A quibble for your quabble
Shall I cobble out another original idea?
How queer
That you like when I’m around
But when I make a sound
I’m less than desired
The fairer sex
Yet
Nothing is fair about this
How amiss
This Miss
Ms
Mrs
Hugs and kisses
All good times
But when she starts to rhyme?
(They puff on their cigars — have I gone too far? What shall I say next…?)
“Ah!” I cover “but I jest!”
They all laugh and laugh and laugh
And I too, on their behalf…
Why so serious?
Riddle me this -
The revolver in my pocket has six rounds
And there are seven men
