Hushed Yet Loud
I am not distracted,
just a little shy
From the
constant hush
And long,
drawn out sighs
Anxious about life
only when I am away
family my security,
even on very short stays
My soul wakes up
with the warmth of the sun
Awakening
Culture
and
Strength
known by
more than one
I carry much more
than beauty
in my
silent stance
Little shoulders
carry a new generation
on an old,
but
strong foundation
Bold voice
with
limited choice
Noted time for change —
nothing strange
So I took a stand,
moved to a strange land
Exploring what I can…
I sit in the shadows
faded voice
but
loaded thoughts
so loud
cannot be hushed
Sharing what is
important
more
than popular
I remain — hushed yet loud
