Jesse Ridgway is better known to his fanbase as Juggies, and to YouTube as McJuggerNuggets. What separates this YouTuber from other hits such as PewDiePie, Markiplier, Smosh, and others is Jesse’s platform. Unlike most YouTubers, Jesse utilizes his platform of 3 million subscribers to tell stories.

Yes, stories — wait, his stories are vastly different from the hit “storytime” videos that have been seen on YouTube, where a Youtuber tells a story about an event in their life, or something that happened to them. Jesse’s stories are different — he actually tells a story, complete with in depth characters and twists.

The actors for his series/stories consist of “himself”, his parents, and whomever else would like in on the pie that is any McJuggerNuggets tale. From there, he directs them and creates them as his vision sees fit, even if it may cause him emotional turmoil and take a toll on his family. This is seen in one tale in particular that took the fans, their parents, and everyone by storm: “The Psycho Series”.

The Psycho series was about a young man who just wants to make a career out of video games, to his fathers chagrin. Angered, old, and confused by why his son won’t get a job, nor accept his gaming ways, his father, dubbed “psycho dad” takes action by destroying video games, consoles, etc. However, this is just the surface of the series, which spanned over three years up until completion. The series, being filmed in a vlogging-like style, was so realistic. For example, seeing Jesse breakdown throughout the series, at some points made it hard to believe the truth behind the series.

Yet, that’s just it: Jesse’s method of storytelling, as mentioned above with the vlog-like style, is unlike any other. He weaves his tales with a careful precision, calculating what move to make before releasing it to his fans, leaving small bits and clues within his series, through dialogue or hidden Easter eggs, as a form of foreshadowing.

All in all, Jesse Ridgway is a Youtuber to not only look up to from a video aspect, but from a writing aspect as well — the life he breathes into his characters, they become their own people, which is how writing should always be.
