Queen Of A Boundless Universe

I am queen of a boundless universe
Sometimes
When the sun beats warm and bright
Through the grasping shadow trees
On the cobbled path
That seems just made for me
When the wind comes whispering
Filled with a thousand stories
From a thousand and one worlds.

But sometimes
Without sun
With cold so deep it cracks
Without a whispering wind
I wonder if
Perhaps
My kingdom has crumbled to dust
Buried underfoot
Or perhaps
After so long without light
They left me
To run ahead
While I forever fall behind
No longer queen at all
But lost
Without woods
Or path
Or whispers on the wind
To tell me stories
Or even
Guide me home.
