Sheltered Habitat

Flustered,
needing to calm down
With closed eyes
I start my journey
Slow,
steady steps
regulate my
heartbeat
The warm air
lightly taps my cheeks
My feet flirting
with short blades of grass
Awakening the sharp
essence of the florets
Birds’ humming
Makes love to my ears
As I make my way
The air shifts
to a cool mist
Kissing my body
As the sound
of the babbling stream
caressing its banks
fills my soul
The cool water
drifting over my fingers
Keeps me calm
As I breathe in
My safe place
