The Dance

You danced with the devil
And didn’t get burned.
Twisted and turned
You smiled.

The gleam in your eye
Meant you knew
Where only a few
Have returned from.

He spun you around
Music blaring
Bold daring
You were caught with a kiss.

But dancing with the devil
Is risky at best
With unwanted interest
Unstoppable. Inevitable.

Up his sleeve are a bag
Of tricks
Caress and kiss —

You spin away.
You do not live to
Dance another day.
