Unwanted and Unseen

A poem about discarded sins that we keep secret, even from ourselves.

These halls are silent

Not even whispers live here

Only forgotten memories of

Life’s unwanted and unseen.

Dirty little secrets

Hidden — left behind

Hoping no one will find them

— discarded.

Like a child’s toy that

Has lost its newness

No longer needed

Never really wanted.

Rag dolls torn apart

Left by the side of the road

Like litter — everyone does it

One more won’t matter.

We toss what we don’t want

Hoping it lands where it should

Not looking back

To see if it did.

Left to be forgotten

Like dirty laundry

Only remembered when

Once again — needed.
