Lorenzo “Larry” Abraham

The name Lorenzo “Larry” Abraham might sound unfamiliar… though to fans of McJuggerNuggets, as well as fans of ‘Uncle Larry’ himself, he’s a cherished man. Being the actual uncle to Jesse Ridgway, Uncle Larry got his start on the “Psycho Series,” created by his younger nephew. Deciding it was time for him to also go online and create his own platform, was his channel — Larry’s Lounge, and from that, “Chillin’ and Grillin’” was created.

Unlike his nephew’s channels, Uncle Larry’s channel is the most diverse: From showcasing handy skills like how to place drywall, to being able to cook various healthy meals, to sitting down and just talking to the camera about the hard stuff — “keepin’ it real.” Larry teaches his audience how to become adults, or at least give them basic skills one might’ve not known on their own, and with opening mail from the P.O. box, he opens fans letters and truly does his best to respond to each and every one. By interacting with his fans not only by mail, but also being so willing to have fans come up to his house and play basketball with them… this YouTuber is anything short of a local, truly kind, individual and “celebrity”.

Now, as a young 20 year old with my life still just beginning to mold into however I choose it to be, there are a few things I’ve learned from Uncle Larry:

1. There’s no hate needed, just love.
Uncle Larry’s infamous hashtag “No hate needed, just love” is a hashtag of nothing but… well, pure love. In a world where hate stems from all parts of the world, no matter race, gender, or ethnicity… we all just need to love. By loving, it might not kill a fire, but it’ll do its job over time. This has taught me that

2. There’s always good in people
Within the realm of the Psycho series, as well as the latest “devil inside” series, Uncle Larry continues to be the supporting uncle. He tries his best to understand where his nephew is coming from, being brutally honest when the situation calls for it, yet still being able to try and understand unless pushed to his limit. As a person, this has taught me that even if we may not like a person — whether they’re a coworker, acquaintance, or family member, but the best we can do is love them anyway, and be good to them.

3. Life’s unexpected, yet brutal
As mentioned above, Uncle Larry doesn’t shy from the rough topics, unless they’re hard to talk about themselves. When he talks about life, he does his best to make sure it’s translated into something his younger audience can understand. He talks about how everyone should achieve their goals, even if it might take them longer than others. He speaks of mental illness, and how debilitating it can be for people, being as honest as he can.

To Uncle Larry himself…
All I can think to say is…

Thank you.
