promises

are made

too easily

written down

drunkly

late nights

full of stars

and teenage

intoxication

stars, moons, universes

so easy to obtain

with a simple

promise

and shared smiles

of oceans

of trust

promises

are just as

easily drowned

between bottles

of liqour

tucked behind

tipsy eyes

that shine

with anything

but

love

thrown out to sea

to forget over time

to wash up on

islands of loss

and misfit belongings

a small smile

of the beauty

that the promise

had

only to wither

into memories

into wisps

of two people

underneath

their seas of promises

into nothing
