You Were, I Was

You were the cherry blossom
I could not hold,
The dreamer of words, keeper of worlds

You were the boulder
I could not move,
The winter thaw tempting
Spring with promises

I was the river
You could not swim in,
Footprints on muddy shores

I was the summer moon
Silent with emotion,
My sentences born
On the sunrise’s time

We were autumn leaves
Clinging to the same branch,
Winds tearing us away as
Drifters into the unknown
