If you want to look like a cool barista, but don’t know how to do latte art, whip up a Caffe Shakerato. It’s simple to do and looks super cool. It’s also a great warm weather drink because it’s a way to drink a shot of espresso cool.

There are tons of ways to make this drink. You need a double shot of espresso, ice, and a cocktail shaker. I use a Boston style shaker. That’s all you really need, though I like to add a small splash of something sweet to take the bite out of the espresso. I’m using agave nectar but you really only need simple syrup. I say use a syrup though because it dissolves easier and gets all in that frothy head.

Put them all together and shake. It creates an intense frothy head. Then the foam slowly turns into a beverage, but it’ll never fully go away. It almost tastes like it’s got cream in it but it doesn’t.

Adding a little bit of heavy cream also works. That makes it more like a very intense latte. And of course you could use a vanilla syrup too. It’s a great fun base and you can do whatever you would do to dress up a latte. Add whipped cream and serve it in a martini glass for some extra class.
