The People of San Francisco

Some gentle people with no flowers in their hair (through the lenses of a 20-year-old Zenit and an iPhone 7).

A homeless person crossing the street with all his belongings in the direction of the Ferry Building.

Last month I visited San Francisco for the very first tine. I must say after living in London and travelling to India it’s hard to surprise me with people’s creative expression or poorness in the streets. But what really impressed me is the lack of any cultural dominance. While UK has its own culture built throughout centuries and everything else was added on top and integrated into this culture, the US culture was always a mix.

And this helped to develop a unique diversity and absolute open-mindedness. It has its pros and cons, but I really loved the fact that people accept you as you are. Everybody makes mistakes, but in SF people don’t seem to care.

I’m not surprised that companies like Tesla, Apple or Space X were born in this area, people here are dreamers. Some of them go completely crazy and live in the streets, some of them change the world. And a lot of them have their own unique style.

On the left — a Mexican guy in the Mission enjoying his walk on Saturday, on the right — a beautiful Asian lady in a restaurant with a meaningful tattoo.

SF is for sure the city of contrast!
