COFFICE STORY: Riste Kabranov, Python/Odoo developer
You gotta love a person who knows how to stick for himself when he knows that the situation he found himself in no longer works for him. This kind of individual is rare to find especially in our line of work. Usually there are those people who will either suffer quietly or talk behind their boss’s back, but stay in that vicious circle and never have the courage to get up and state their opinions out loud. Riste Kabranov is not one of them. He’s rebel with a cause, a stand up guy who will always tell you the things like they are and if you don’t find a way to integrate his qualities in the projects he is assigned to, he’ll be out the door in a matter of seconds. That’s why his boss adores him for it and I have developed a special kind of respect due to the fact that these qualities are extremely rare in a person and when you meet someone who has them, you know you’ve met an amazing human being who you can call a dear friend.
Riste was part of our coworking for 1 month while he was working for Nebiz, so here he shares more about the technologies he uses and his experience with Coffice.
COFFICE: What made you do what you’re doing today? Tell us your journey
RK: Starting to write about my journey makes me a little nervous because I have worked in so many different areas that are not even related to IT. But here I am now, working at Nebiz IT DOOEL Skopje, and I do not plan to leave this place soon. Currently I am working with the Python programming language and I am in the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) field. Working on Odoo platform makes me happy, using Python I can do things easily and some of the things that I have done with this OOP could be done in PHP or other but would take ten times the time. I could talk about Odoo all day but it would be good if you are interested to check this link out www.odoo.com and read more about it, maybe you would like to work with me too :) .
And to answer to your question, what made me do what I am doing today? Its very simple, I don’t like frontend programming, like so many others :D , and Odoo is the place where you don’t need it much. Mostly pure pythonic functions and OOP that you don’t even think about CSS or JS. So yes, I was searching for a platform like this and I am so glad that I have found my place here.
COFFICE: Where do you get your inspiration from?
RK: I get my inspiration from the needs of others. I see all the time requests on the Odoo forum that some people are not able to program, so I am glad to help them out to resolve their issues. Also I get inspired when a client from the project that I am working on asks for a feature that is not available, I jump to provide.
COFFICE: Who has influenced your work the most?
RK: Nebiz IT is located in Skopje, but we have colleagues in Germany and India too. When I started working here, I was introduced to a Python developer, my colleague in India and he helped me a lot, he was the wind in my back. His name is Sai Sekhar Madala and I thank him for the help.
COFFICE: Proudest moment to date…
RK: Proudest moment to date, actually I have few moments that rank the same :) . Often when I create new modules for Odoo they get published on www.apps.odoo.com , and of course the company name is the author but I get the credit for developing. So when a module gets published there and I see many downloads, I am proud as a peacock.
COFFICE: If you had the chance to collaborate with a brand or an individual, what or who would it be?
RK: Being a Python developer, I got used to the linux environment. Linus Torvalds is the creator so I would like to work or even to chat with him once in a while.
COFFICE: Best advice you’ve ever received.
RK: Steady waters don’t make great sailors. (Got this advise from the owner of the company Mr. Ashant Chalasani)
COFFICE: Personal moto
RK: Make something new, do not reinvent the wheel.
COFFICE: Experience with Coffice
RK: My experience with Coffice was just like expected, even better actually. Before starting in the company, I was told that we are stationed in Coffice for the time being. So I had some questions about the workplace, about the connection and about the location. But Coffice has all these elements so beautifully combined that you will feel better than home. With the separate office for calls and meetings you will have the privacy that you need. Also with the small but so cute coffee space you can prepare the favorite coffee and refresh. I have spent so many great days in Coffice that now when I am passing near the building I always remember and laugh about something. I would recommend to anyone, its a good deal too.
If there’s one thing to take away from this story is that your voice matters. Believing in yourself, sticking out for the things you believe matter and starting a conversation about them with your boss can do wonders for you, not only for your personal growth, but for your career too. After all, you know what they say “The world belongs to the brave”. So get out of that comfort zone and I promise you, you’ll reach heights you’ve never thought possible and your first step can start by coming to Coffice.
