You just proved you aren’t.

If you say not all white people and you are white, you have more work to do.

If you say not all Christians and are Christian, you have more work to do.

If you say not all men, and identify as a man, you have more work to do.

If you say you are a nice white person, it doesn’t apply to you, or you are the exception, YOU MISSED THE MEMO, and it not only applies to you but it’s got “Attn: You” on the top.

Attn: You who are white people. It does not matter that you don’t want to be the bad guy. Do not center yourself or detract from a message on ending racism, because you only perpetuate it. If you hear the message, say so. Share it or scroll on by.

Look; there is a difference between someone from a marginalized or oppressed group speaking to the oppressor as a monolith…and the Oppressor speaking to the oppressed as a monolith. One is about structural systems keeping people oppressed and discriminated against. The other is people adding to the oppression and discrimination.

I.E. If a man says “all women are X” they have the power and benefit from continuing to subjugate women. BUT if a woman says “men do X” we must listen to her experience…
