On Tuesday, February 24, 2020, Coforma (formerly &Partners) received a Certified Business Enterprise (CBE) standing from the Washington DC Department of Small and Local Business Development that lasts for three years.

DC-based businesses that obtain a certification are granted preference for District-level government procurement opportunities through the District’s eligible business listings, made easily navigable by a search tool that helps connect offerors with approved businesses.

Coforma has done meaningful work at the federal level of government. This new designation will help us apply some of our skills, time, and personnel to areas of priority within our local community — working in service to and partnership with DC government.

A number of criteria must be met in order to receive the certification. The business must be located in DC. The CEO, as well as the highest level managerial employees, must perform their managerial functions in their principal, DC-based office.

Additionally, the business must meet one of the following standards:

  • More than half of the employees of the business enterprise must be residents of the District; or
  • The owners of more than half of the business enterprise must be residents of the District; or
  • More than 50% of the assets of the business enterprise, excluding bank accounts, are located in the District; or
  • More than 50% of the business enterprise’s gross receipts are District gross receipts.

Certification also comes with business networking opportunities, access to potential capital funding grantors, and personalized business counseling and competitive insights for navigating the procurement process.

We’re fortunate to get to do such meaningful work each day. We look forward to making a difference as a team for our home base, Washington, DC.
