Klara Mauerova with Barbora Skrlova on the left and her sons, Ondrej and Jakub

This story begins with Klara Mauerova in Czech Republic. Klara was born in 1975 and gave birth to two boys, Jakub in 1997 and Ondrej in 1999. She met the father of her children while at school, and the two of them were married for a few years.

However, Klara suffered from severe mental health issues, and showed signs of schizophrenia. Her odd behavior and delusions became too much for her husband to handle. He ended up leaving Klara.

After her husband left, Klara moved in with her sister, Katerina. It is speculated that her sister, Katerina suffered from this illness as well.

Klara studied pedagogy at university, and it was there where she met Barbora Skrlova. Barbora suffered from a disorder called hypopituitarism. Hypopituitarism is a hormone deficiency that can stunt one's growth and make a person appear much younger than they are, childlike even.

Barbora would use this as a manipulation tool throughout her life often pretending to be a child even though she was a grown woman. She would come across as non-threatening.

When Barbora met Klara, she introduced herself as Anna. It's unclear what age Klara believed Barbora was, but Barbora, at the time, was posing as a young teen attending college.
