After exploring the personas we had made, we needed to come up with prototypes that could meet our potential users’ needs. Our vision to create an Event app for people looking for groups was constantly in our minds. With much consideration, we each went home to explore our ideas and to craft our own unique prototype and design.

Hard at work, creating new ideas.

Paper prototypes in hand, we met up with other members of COGS 187 A, to test our ideas. Step by step, we meticulously walked through each step of our prototype, showing each feature to the user. The user then gave much valued feedback.

After the meeting with the user, we then met up together as a team to consolidate our findings. All our prototypes, though they had minor differences, had several features that they all shared in common.

  1. A log in and account creation screen
  2. A home page
  3. An event search page
  4. A event group page

Going over the input from the users, we discussed additional features for the app, and ultimately decided to create two prototypes for more testing. This would allow for A/B testing to determine the app’s direction.

Once again, we returned to the pond of users to test out our prototypes. We presented prototype A which featured a more manual event search engine and prototype B which was more streamlined. We found through user testing that they generally preferred prototype B. Further questioning also gave us additional ideas to implement. This included positively rating good people and highlighting positive experiences to the user.

With these ideas in mind, we set out to go beyond the paper and into the digital reality. Over the weekend we will be designing our wireframe for the Event app on the prototype platform UXPin and we look forward to our progress.
