On Thursday, August 24, we started the class by splitting the team into two halves and performed user testing with other teams.

Nathan, Xinran and Chen are giving feedback to the other team
The other half of us are watching FoodBank’s demonstration.

Interestingly, both halves of the team got the impression that the mobile version of our app is more preferable. The web app sketch also has its merits and it would great if we can integrate those into mobile version.

During user testing process, members of FoodBank pointed out that instead of having a text description for each option, our app should offer a camera option that allows user to upload pictures of each choice. We all agreed that it is a fantastic idea.

After we got back in our team, the first thing we discussed was about expiration timeframe of each question and whether we should allow other users to see expired questions. It took us around 30 minutes to decide on these issues and our decision was hardcoded expiration times (2 days, 1 week, 1 month). Also only the question askers are allowed to see expired question he asked.

The next big thing we discussed was feed section of our app. According to other teams’s feedback to us, they all liked this feature and we decided to keep it. However, we also stipulated that feed should only be the secondary way to answer a question. The main entrance still belongs to an “answer question” page.

Our team is discussing team prototypes.

Lastly, we moved to discuss the navigation layout of our app. Since it would be a mobile app, we took reference from a bunch of popular mobile apps such as Facebook, Instagram, WeChat, etc. It seemed that the state of arts of a navigation bar is to put it at the bottom of the screen. And there goes our draft of the app.

And here is our final draft!

Our final sketches!
