Coin Hunter- AR Core Ready

You can download the Coin Hunter application now on the Google Play Store. Learn the reason behind its compatibility with Android versions 7.0 and up.

Coin Hunter is an augmented reality (AR) game wherein users can look for cryptocurrencies in a virtual world. To be able to play the game, you’ll need a smartphone. However, not every smartphone is compatible with Coin Hunter. Outdated phones will not be able to download the Coin Hunter app because it does not support the AR technology required for the game’s full operations. The app is currently only available on Android version 7.0 and up.

Let us discuss in detail what this AR technology is and how it manages to create the virtual world into reality.

Google’s AR Core

Setting up a famous example, Pokémon Go is a one-of-a-kind AR based application that had a massive reach to players across globe. This game became a benchmark since its release date on July 6, 2016. Coin Hunter aims is to provide a safe platform to users by helping, educating and bringing cryptocurrency user’s together in a fun and interactive way.

Knowingly, Google and Apple have two different Augmented Reality frameworks or software development kits that use the smartphone’s camera and add elements to the virtual environment. For Apple, it is referred to as AR Kit while Google calls it AR Core — both empowers the AR feature within mobiles. As for now, Coin Hunter currently uses AR Core for android user’s and will soon be releasing the iOS version using AR Kit.

AR Core makes use of three key technologies that affect the real-life environment within the virtual gameplay of Coin Hunter:

  1. Environmental Understanding. The phone can detect the size and location of all types of surfaces: horizontal, vertical, and angled. Users can see coins in real-time environment.
  2. Light Estimation. This allows the phone to estimate the environment’s current lighting conditions. When airdrop events occur outdoors, coins can be easily noticed as the lighting will adjust based on the player’s current settings.
  3. Motion Tracking. This allows the phone to realize its position relative to the real world. Coin Hunter can detect when the user is on the move and hunting for cryptos around them.
