Geomining —An In-Depth Look at Geomining— Part One
We’re excited to bring you our new series on Geomining, one of the first ways to earn rewards with the COIN app. In our first installment, we’ll cover a few Geomining features, including Auto Explore, Geomining Speed, clearing Geomined tiles, and redeeming your COIN rewards.
What is Geomining?
One of the initial features introduced in COIN is Geomining, and it will be the first action you’ll take on your COIN journey. Lucky for you, Geomining is straightforward.
When you open the COIN app, you’ll see a map showing you your general surroundings. Within the map, there are individual tiles highlighted in a light-blue square (see the pic below). You can Geomine each tile and earn COIN.
To get started, open the app, find the pickaxe icon at the bottom center of your screen, tap it, and you’ll see a blue line start to grow around the icon. Once the blue line is complete around the pickaxe, you’ll see COIN fly up from your title and into your rewards bar!
COIN is all about exploration, so the more you explore the world around you, the more potential you have to earn. Once you’ve Geomined a tile in the app, you can move to a new tile and Geomine that area. If you want to Geomine the same tile again, you’ll have to wait a few minutes to refresh and Geomine the same tile, or you can clear the tile (we’ll cover this below). The more you Geomine, the more you’ll see your COIN total increase in the rewards bar at the top of the screen.
Tiles & Clearing Tiles
Tiles in COIN are represented by a small square area highlighted in blue on the map. You can only Geomine each tile a certain amount of times before it runs out of COIN. You can’t always be exploring, so if you’re in the same location and already Geomined all the COIN there, you can clear the tile by playing a minigame to keep earning rewards.
To clear a tile, tap it, and you’ll get a pop-up on the screen that says, play a minigame — tap that, play the game, and boom, it’s ready to be Geomined again!
Auto Explore
Auto Explore allows you to Geomine tiles hands-free and is the go-to option for when you’re driving, or you’re too busy to physically Geomine yourself. Right underneath the pickaxe button in the app, you’ll see the Auto Explore feature. Tap Auto Explore to turn it on, and the button will turn green. Once Auto Explore is activated, you can collect COIN automatically as you pass over tiles. Remember that your Geomining Speed may impact how many tiles you can Geomine if you’re moving fast. So jump on your bike, go for a drive, or take a walk to start stacking up your rewards automatically.
Geomining Speed
If you want to try and maximize how much you can earn, there’s a way to Geomine even faster. Simply sign up for a Premium account, and you’ll enjoy an automatic speed boost. With the Plus account, you’ll be able to Geomine and recharge twice as fast (2x), and with the Pro Account, your speed boost will be 3x faster. Having a Plus or Pro account is super handy if you drive a lot since it will maximize the amount of COIN you can earn with Auto Explore activated. Ready to give it a shot? Here’s what you need to do:
- Click on the + sign in the top right corner of the app
- Select Premium Plans at the bottom of the menu

4. And just like that, you’re Geomining like the wind
Redeeming Your Rewards
Are you ready to redeem your rewards? Tap the rewards bar at the top of your screen to trade your earnings for XYO Token, Bitcoin, cool gaming consoles like a PS5, and other assorted items. You can also use your rewards to enter Sweepstakes* for your chance to win all sorts of incredible prizes. Just select what you’re interested in from the list of available items and follow the on-screen prompts. Easy.
