Dfinity president and chief scientist Dominic Williams said the airdrop would increase the distribution of tokens before the network launched.

“To widen distribution of our network tokens, we will conduct an airdrop of dfinities worth up to 25 million Swiss francs to select community members, with preference given to those who have been supporting the project for some time.” said Williams.

An additional $10 million worth of tokens will be distributed to new community members bringing the total number of tokens available in the airdrop to amount to $US35 million.

The blockchain platform plans to create a ‘Cloud 3.0’ that will serve as an Internet computer and deliver an open network to users for cloud-based solutions.

“We strongly believe that all decentralised projects, including the Internet computer, should only value themselves in terms of the real world utility they provide and how their features fit with their intended audience,” said Williams.

Dfinity is decentralised cloud computing platform that operates using Blockchain technology to store and manage data.

Due to regulatory restrictions, the airdrop will only be made available to residents outside of the US.
