Queen of pop Madonna has teamed up with Ashton Kutcher-backed Ripple to raise funds for her non-profit charity group, Raising Malawi.

Founded by the “Material Girl” ten years ago, the African-based organisation supports orphans and vulnerable children in Malawi, one of the world’s poorest countries.

Ripple, a top cryptocurrency, will match every dollar donated to Madonna’s campaign, until the end of August. The fundraiser is part of the pop star’s 60th birthday campaign.

“For my birthday, the best gift you can give me is to help me to help these kids,” Madonna said in video posted on Twitter.

Every dollar raised will be spent on meals, education and healthcare, according to the singer.

Ripple has previously donated US$4 million to the Ellen Degeneres Wildlife Fund earlier this year.
