Wow! What a Q2 we’ve had — not only at CoinCorner but in the industry as a whole. We’ve seen Bitcoin’s price continue in a positive direction for 5-months running and it doesn’t look to be stopping. We’ve also had the first FAANG company attempt to introduce their own cryptocurrency - Facebook with Libra - which seems to be causing many others, including central banks, to consider bringing their own out too.
So, what’s happened at CoinCorner in Q2?
It’s been our first full quarter with our UK banking facility, which has proved to be extremely impactful, from both a volume and happy customer experience perspectives.
If you missed this update, don’t worry. Catch up by reading our announcement about UK banking services with Faster Payments.
In April, CoinCorner’s marketing campaign “Be More Brenda” was nominated for the “Best Advertising Campaign” at the Chartered Institute of Marketing annual Marketing Excellence Awards in the UK.
We attended the event and even though we were only runners up in the end, it was an extremely proud moment for myself and the team being selected as finalists for a national marketing award — especially as we were the only Bitcoin business to be chosen!
At CoinCorner we’re all about the team as we recognise that the company wouldn’t be where it is today without every single team member’s efforts over the last 5 years. To thank our team we’ve introduced a share scheme which makes every staff member a shareholder of CoinCorner. We’ve done this as we believe in sharing our success — our team certainly deserves it!
CoinCorner Checkout — Payment Gateway Launch
4 years after we turned our Bitcoin Payment Gateway off due to restrictions on banking and timing, we have finally re-launched it, and believe me when I say that it’s better than ever!
We believe that now is the right time to push towards adoption by having UK businesses accepting Bitcoin payments.
In the coming months, we hope to have some awesome partnership announcements, so keep an eye out for those!

Our tech team has been busy working to create a selection of simple Bitcoin plugins for websites that use Magento, WooCommerce, OsCommerce, PrestaShop, NopCommerce and OpenCart. It’s an easy plug and play option for any business using those platforms.
For businesses using bespoke platforms, the team has also created a selection of sample code which can be found here.
In June our team launched a Point-of-Sale app too. The CoinCorner Checkout app allows physical businesses the chance to accept Bitcoin payments too. CoinCorner Checkout has been released on the Android Play Store and iTunes.

During Q2 we also introduced a new opportunity for our staff —to have their salaries paid in cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum and Ripple. Uptake has been high with 100% of our team choosing to be paid in cryptocurrencies for either all or part of their salary.
This has proved to be very successful for two reasons. Not only have we had complete uptake of the offer, but thanks to the positive price movements over the last few months, each of our team is already in the green!
We have plenty lined up over the coming months! Here’s a taster of what’s to come.
We’re looking to integrate Lightning Payments into our Wallet and Payment Gateway, introduce lots of new plugins, share new products to help spread awareness of Bitcoin and announce some exciting partnerships!
