This edition’s Speaker Spotlight will feature Eric Anziani — Chief Strategy Officer of Crypto.com. Eric has extensive experience in prestigious tech companies and startups prior to his position with Crypto.com. He also co-founded and is currently managing Crystal Seed Partners, a venture capital and angel investment consulting group based in Singapore.

1) What is the main thing you will be highlighting about Crypto.com?

At Crypto.com, we firmly believe that blockchain technology will bring tremendous benefits for society and individuals. This year, we have been developing revolutionary crypto-powered products that address real consumer needs, making crypto more accessible, spendable and rewarding for all.

We have also been growing the Crypto.com community 20% month on month, in line with our mission to accelerate the world’s transition to cryptocurrency.

In addition, we are building an open and growing ecosystem to enhance our offering and bring institutional-grade services to our consumers.

2) What’s the biggest challenge Crypto.com faced this year and how was it resolved?

We have built amazing products and features, for instance, enabling customers to earn up to 8% p.a. on their crypto, spend their crypto at 40m merchants globally and more. Crypto.com is a global company and we have had to navigate a complex set of changing rules and regulations across the markets that we support.

We have had to take a cautious approach in scaling our offering to all markets, and develop a flexible infrastructure to adapt to the changing environment.

Our compass and focus on Compliance and Security first has guided us and helped us make sometimes difficult decisions for the long term benefit of our consumers and the platform.

3) How would you describe Crypto.com in one line?

The super app covering all of your crypto needs: buy, sell, store, track, pay, invest, earn, borrow in crypto!

4) Describe your vision for the future of Crypto.com.

Our vision is to put cryptocurrency into every wallet.

Consumer frustration with incumbent financial institutions and their traditional models of banking is no secret. At the basic level, we aim to provide a much better banking alternative, powered by the blockchain.

Through creating intuitive products that the everyday consumer is already familiar with, say the MCO Visa Card, which can be tapped anywhere Visa is accepted, we are working towards our vision of putting cryptocurrency into every wallet.

Every step that we take now and in the future is aimed at making consumers realize the immense benefits and ease of use of cryptocurrencies. Our vision stands until paying for your coffee with cryptocurrencies is as commonplace as taking out a fiver from your back pocket.

5) What do you think is the biggest hindrance/roadblock to mainstream adoption of crypto in general?

Crypto can appear complicated, technical and virtual for the average consumer. For them to take the leap into the crypto world, we believe that the best way is to create intuitive, user-friendly and rewarding consumer products that meet their day-to-day needs.

6) What mascot would you use for your project? If you already have one, what inspired you to pick said mascot?

The (Ethereum) lion. It symbolizes strength, trust, and courage. As a company, we have operations in Hong Kong (where the lion is a symbol of the largest bank) and Singapore (the Lion City) — therefore, the symbolism is close to our hearts.
