CoinHub announces Secure Portfolio — Making your cryotocurrency portfolio more secure.
One of the most frustrating things when I bought my first cryptocurrency was how hard it was to keep up with quotes and news. We decided to make CoinHub to solve this problem by providing a well crafted app that delivers realtime quotes and news 24/7 so that no matter where you are, you’re connected to your favorite cryptocurrencies.

Since its release, CoinHub has been incredibly popular. People all over the world have downloaded and shared their feedback about what they would like to see next. One of the biggest feature requests we’ve received was to integrate a portfolio into CoinHub. When we started asking our users what they didn’t like about their current portfolio, we heard four things over and over:
- It’s not accurate.
- It’s not secure.
- It doesn’t do FOREX.
- It’s not really real-time.
With that we began to design CoinHub Secure Portfolio to address these concerns.
Portfolio Accuracy
The main thing we wanted to do was provide an aggregate price and calculation for positions in your portfolio. CoinHub pulls from 50+ exchanges and calculates the statistics of each of your positions. In addition, we have a great summary boxes on the top of your portfolio so you can quickly gauge the health of your portfolio.
Portfolio Security
When we took a look at most apps that had portfolio features, we were shocked to see that most positions weren’t stored on device. They were often shipped off to a 3rd party server, often without SSL, and kept on the server without encryption. Worse, in order to use these other portfolio features, you had to sign up with your email address. This gave anyone with access to the server a clear idea the positions of each email address and what the entire portfolio is worth. With all the high profile hacks happening each day, this is clearly dangerous.
When we designed CoinHub’s portfolio, we wanted to keep everything secure and the only way to do that is to give you full control of your data. Your positions, the amounts, and the value are all kept on the device and all the calculations are done on device.
Realtime Calculations
There is no delay with CoinHub’s new portfolio. Just like realtime quotes, CoinHub does all the calculations for each individual position and your portfolio health in realtime.
FOREX Engine
There are many coin pairs trading worldwide. You might buy ETH/BTC or XMR/ETH for example, but your base fiat currency might be USD. Regardless of what pair you buy and where you’re located in the world, CoinHub comes equipped with a realtime FOREX engine built right in.
For pairs that were purchased in a non-native pairing, CoinHub will automatically show you the native pair price and the FOREX converted pair price automatically. So no matter what pairs you buy, or where you are in the world, you will understand the value of every coin you have without having to do messy FOREX conversions.
