We’re excited to announce another step forward in our mission to help the top Web3 companies raise capital and grow their communities. Over the next three months, we’ll be co-hosting an open challenge to speed up zk-SNARK provers with Coda and Dekrypt Capital.
Zero-knowledge proofs are a cryptographic method that allows one party to prove a state or a set of information without the counterparty having to reveal that information. zk-SNARKs are a form of zero-knowledge proof that can keep transactions private on a crypto network, be used to prevent block sizes from bloating, and more.
Zcash is likely the most notable implementation of zk-SNARKs, but zk-SNARKs don’t just impact one application or one blockchain. The concept can be implemented almost universally. We believe zk-SNARKs will be an important leap forward in scaling blockchains and realizing privacy for on-chain transactions, but the development is relatively new, and there is a lot of room for improvement.
This huge potential is why we are so excited to announce that we’ve partnered with Coda and Dekrypt Capital to launch the SNARK Challenge. We’re also humbled to have sponsors representing some of the top projects in the space including Tezos, the Zcash Foundation, and Protocol Labs.
The Challenge: $100k in Prizes
The challenge will be broken up into two events that together span 3 months and will have $100k in prizes awarded throughout the event. There will be specific challenges aimed at advanced cryptographers and those with experience in high-performance computing.
The initial event runs from May 20 to June 3. It has $5k in prizes and includes 3 challenges focused on zk-SNARKs basics.
The main event runs from June 3 to July 15. This event has $95k in prizes and includes multiple challenges focused on speeding up the Groth16 Snark Prover.
And yes, there will be swag.
