As a follow-up to our successful hackathon with 0x, we’re excited to announce CoinList Build Hackathon #2: NuCypher.

NuCypher builds privacy infrastructure for the decentralized web. They’ve built a phenomenal team, are backed by some of the smartest investors in crypto, and have a long track record of engaging developers through hackathons. Developers have already used NuCypher to securely share encrypted vehicle onboard diagnostic data and sensitive medical data — we can’t wait to see what participants build here.

Building for unconditional privacy

The NuCypher + CoinList Hackathon will begin on March 11 and is focused on “Building the Applications and Tools for Unconditional Privacy.” The hackathon will be split into two simultaneous tracks focused on applications and tooling.

Track 1: Applications. Build DApps on top of NuCypher. Some ideas include a decentralized and encrypted Dropbox or a decentralized password manager.

Track 2: Tooling. Make it easier for developers to use NuCypher. Some ideas include browser extensions or integrations with other decentralized projects like IPFS.

For project ideas and resources, NuCypher’s blog post is a great place to start.

Prizes & Judges

We’re really excited to have a phenomenal panel of judges including Robbie Bent (Ethereum Foundation), Stefano Bernardi (Aragon & Token Economy), Jake Brukhman (Coinfund), Richard Burton (Balance), Lasse Clausen (1kx Capital), Viktor Radchenko (TrustWallet), and Amy Sun (Sequoia Capital).

NuCypher is putting up $25,000 in prizes, split equally across both tracks including $5,000 for first place.
