If you’re doubtful (vs. dismissive) about NFTs, think they’re terrible for the environment, and don’t understand why people pay millions of dollars for them, and actually are open to engaging in thoughtful discourse (rather than screaming matches) and learning more about how the media and social media threads might be missing the mark around NFTs — then this is for you.
First off, what are NFTs?
So first off, if you’re unsure what NFT’s are, let’s break down the name in common English. Non-Fungible basically means that no NFT (even if they look exactly the same) is regarded in the same way as another.
I’ll dive into this a bit more later and will add complexity to this idea, but for now, consider what fungible means. It’s like if you have a dollar bill, and I have a dollar bill, they’re worth exactly the same amount. You can exchange yours for four quarters, I can exchange mine for four quarters, and anyone at a bank doesn’t care about your serial…
