A Small Step for Elongevity
For many months, Dogelon Mars holders have been keeping their eye on the token’s biggest whale — The Methuselah Foundation. Speculation within the $ELON community has amassed as to how exactly the Longevity Non-Profit will utilize their share of a generous donation given to them by Vitalik Buterin in May 2021 — shortly after the token’s inception. These past few months however, the Foundation have begun to drop a few hints as to how they will divest but, more importantly, assuring the community of die-hard holders that they need not fear.
Along with the article posted on the Methuselah website, making the promise to steward the token to heights previously unprecedented, members of the Foundation have made several hints in recent weeks on $ELON forums as to how seriously they take their collaboration with the community — most notably when Dave Gobel made an appearance on the Dogelon Warriors Twitter Space branding $ELON a “mission token”. It should then come to no one’s surprise that just a couple of weeks ago, Methuselah Foundation released a Discord Server reaffirming the collaboration between themselves and the Dogelon Mars community. This collaboration, and subsequently, the Discord Server has been dubbed as “Elongevity”.
The name is an obvious play on the life extension research Methuselah is known for, but when entering the Discord Server, it is blatantly clear that there is much more to this collaboration than meets the eye. Spearheaded by Methuselah Foundation Executive Director Sergio Ruiz, this space was intended not to be your average meet-and-greet/bulletin type community portal, but rather a window into the world of what happens when you are presented with the opportunity to collaborate for the purpose of breaking barriers. In his own words, Mr. Ruiz has stated that the aim is to establish a “silo-breaking community, eager to learn and absorb knowledge”.
At first glance, there are various channels for the user to participate in, most notably longevity, space, crypto and AI. This intersection will undoubtedly attract many enthusiasts at various levels of understanding and background within the community to participate, share their knowledge and grow the server to be a hub of learning and bring to fruition meaningful partnerships. It will most likely also reflect first hand insight into the power the name Methuselah Foundation holds in the field of science thus reinforcing the trust $ELON holders rely on to comfortably maintain their investment.
The Discord member list already boasts the names of experts they have brought on as volunteers and it seems blatantly clear that they mean business. The likes of Laurence Ion, Allison Duettmann, Russell Hanson and Todd White are but a few who will undoubtedly share their input on the various topics of conversation that will be held here. It is true that these are celebrated experts in the Longevity sphere, however, given Methuselah’s connection to NASA, the ISS and of course, the obvious empowerment they now wield with their large crypto donation (not to mention the extensive list of prominent people who have ardently donated to the foundation in the past), one can only imagine who might hop on to the server next!
As a Dogelon early holder myself, I must admit, that this has been one crazy year. As we are faced with the first anniversary of our beloved $ELON, we need to look back and reflect at what this truly means for us. Some of you (like me) may have bought into this token with lofty expectations — it was initially dubbed a “meme token” like Dogecoin and Shiba Inu — but there is no denying that this now goes beyond just meme.
In our community, we have come to know each other; we have come to form meaningful friendships — to connect in a time where true connection seemed non-existent. By all accounts, many of us should have jumped ship — some driving us to our wits end with their “fuddiness” — but even these community members seemed to have grown so much due to positive reinforcement and encouragement. This should be a testimony to what we can achieve together. We must now think ahead so as not to fall into the same consequence as the doggy-tokens that came before.
Together we stand on the precipice of something that has not yet been executed at this scale nor can it be achieved without the enthusiasm that Dogelon Mars hodlers are known to bring. This endeavor, in a practical sense, may set us apart in the crypto space in so many ways and open doors to those of us who can align with the vision set out by the Methuselah Foundation. By all accounts, the success of this next step will benefit all the members involved but it cannot be done without consistent participation.
So, to those of us who are constantly looking for the answer to the most unremitting, insoluble question ever asked in the crypto space: “wen” — the answer is now.
