Be In The Arena To Win
The crypto and NFT space moves incredibly fast. The amount of new content and information that is released daily is overwhelming. I believe crypto and NFTs are going to completely shift the framework of modern society. The way in which we interact, conduct business and build companies is going to change to a model that allows for greater transparency, autonomy, and trustworthiness.
I am deeply passionate about this space and I aim to be at the forefront of it all. I am also the first to say that it is overwhelming and I am still trying to figure out how to build a career in the space (aside from trading crypto assets and NFTs). I know the answer is to continue participating because there is no magic pill. Be in the arena to win. Being in the arena means to be in the spaces (not physically, mostly digital of course) that you are passionate about. You can’t win if you aren’t trying. Sometimes things feel messy and you may feel like you’re on the wrong track. Although tedious at times, consistency pays off.
If you are new to the crypto space and have no clue where to start, I’ve developed a framework for you to follow below. This framework helped me when I first started, especially with NFTs, a space that is incredibly new and confusing. My advice is not to overwhelm yourself by trying to learn everything in a week. Take it step by step:
Join Twitter: Twitter is where you will find up-to-date news and interactions about NFTs and crypto. Whether you want to be an active “tweeter” or not, it’s crucial to create an account and follow people who have experience and knowledge in the NFT/crypto space. The easiest thing to do is type “NFT”, “crypto”, “Ethereum”, “Bitcoin”, or whatever it is you want to learn about in the search bar (Protip: filter by “Top” or “Latest” posts). You can also click on “people” and it will give you a list of people to follow with the largest following in the topic you are wanting to learn about.
Join Discord: Many NFT projects and people who have a large following in the crypto space, have a Discord chat. Discord is an app that allows you to discuss specific topics of interest in one organized chat. It’s a great place to ask questions, as each Discord chat will have moderators and leaders to help you. My Discord experiences have mostly been pleasant and beneficial. Remember to turn off your DM’s across all channels as there are a lot of scammers who try to DM you!
Podcasts: If you listen to the right podcasts can advance your knowledge in a subject matter 10-fold. Learn from the right people and you will win. It’s one of my favourite ways to learn. Look into the NFT Now Podcast, Gary V Audio Experience, and Bankless.
By being on Twitter, participating in different discord channels, and listening to podcasts you are considered to be “in the arena”. This is where the action happens and where you need to be to advance your learning and build connections. The constant pursuit of knowledge will lead you to opportunities you never knew existed but you always need to be in the game. It’s messy and overwhelming, but don’t let that deter you. It’s messy for everyone, including myself who has been in the space for many years. Keep interacting with people and absorbing knowledge and you will eventually succeed.
Best of luck out there,
