The Gartner Hype Cycle for Blockchain and Web3 is a yearly report that assesses the maturity of various blockchain and web3 technologies. The report is divided into 5 phases:

• In the Innovation Trigger phase, a technology or application is new and has the potential to be transformational.
• In the Peak of Inflated Expectations phase, there is a lot of excitement and hype around the technology as it gains mainstream attention.
• In the Trough of Disillusionment phase, the hype starts to die down as people realize the technology is not living up to its hype.
• In the Slope of Enlightenment phase, people start to understand how the technology can be used and its potential benefits.
