Collectible card games, often abbreviated as CCGs or TCGs (Trading Card Games), have carved a unique niche in the world of gaming. These strategic card-based games have captivated players of all ages. Beyond the sheer enjoyment they provide, collectible card games hold a distinct place of value in the gaming market, offering a combination of entertainment, social interaction, and investment potential that sets them apart from other forms of gaming.

In this article, we will explore the intrinsic value that these games offer to players and collectors alike, examining the ways in which they foster creativity, strategic thinking, and even financial opportunities in a world where digital asset ownership is only just beginning, with Vulcan Forged’s Berserk leading the way.

CCG Community Size

So, just how many players engage with collectible card games? Well Hearthstone is probably the biggest, most reputable on line card game that people engage in right now, and the figures are staggering. Within the last hour, 56k users have played, with them seeing 4.97m monthly users. Another CCG Magic the Gathering, has seen 9k users within the last hour, and 5.14m monthly users.

This just puts into perspective how early people are in the Web3 NFT space right now because with even 1% of this adoption, the potential is literally incredible. I fully believe that gaming will lead the way with adoption come the bull run too, as it has progressed significantly since the linear earning models of Axie Infinity.

CCG Market Revenue

So what is the market revenue worth? Well for 2024, card games as it’s own specific category is expected to be worth 13.32 billion dollars, with an expected growth of 16.77% CAGR over the next 5 years. Now, this market obviously has some huge players, such as Konami, Blizzard and Square Enix to name a few.

In-Game Purchases

If you’ve ever played other Collectible Card Games, FIFA Ultimate Team, Fortnite or a range of mobile apps, you will be familiar with in-game purchases. It’s no surprise that gaming companies want to retain this revenue stream, it’s lucrative! But the issue with these types of transactions from a user perspective is that you don’t own anything at the end of it, anything purchased is still property of the game provider.

Wouldn’t it be great if some of those profits directly benefitted their users too? Well, Vulcan Forged is looking to achieve exactly that, by providing users with ownership of assets.

NFTs

Now, NFTs have been around for a number of years, but for anyone unfamiliar with the terminology, they are non-fungible tokens. They cannot be copied, substituted or divided, and have a unique digital identifier on the blockchain they have been recorded. This means that if there are a specific number of NFTs per collection, you will have a unique edition and no more will be able to be printed.

Berserk NFTs

This is where NFTs change the dynamic in this space. If you purchase Berserk card packs to obtain new playable cards, you will own those cards. This means you can sell them on the secondary marketplace, use them to win prizes, earn $LAVA passively as you play games or generally just enjoy yourself. You may even get lucky on a pack opening and pull an extremely rare card!

Overview of Berserk?

Berserk is a competitive blockchain Collectible Card Game (CCG) set in Vulcan Forged’s VulcanVerse. It includes powerful allies from across the four quadrants and Vulcan City, with each Berserk card featuring creatures or spells. Players can craft new decks, compete against each other for $LAVA and seasonal rankings, with the aim of building a deck to challenge for the top prizes.

Berserk has been meticulously designed and developed over the past two years to ensure there is balance, strategy, synergy and the potential for significant growth. Combined with the deeply woven fantasy lore of VulcanVerse, once word gets out and the player base grows, I believe it will be a formidable force in the CCG space.
