Cybersecurity is the practice or measures taken to protect electronic data from unlawful or unauthorized use. Therefore, any company should develop a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy that includes the below five types of cybersecurity and the three components that play active roles in a cybersecurity posture- people, processes, and technology.

Cybersecurity can be broadly classified into five types! (in practice)

  • Critical infrastructure security
  • Application security
  • Network security
  • Cloud security
  • Internet of Things (IoT) security

Critical Infrastructure Security

Critical infrastructure security refers to the protection of systems, networks, and assets whose continuous operation is deemed necessary to ensure the security of a nation, its economy, and the public’s health & safety. Critical infrastructure security is critical in protecting society’s and the economy’s vital systems and services, such as power and water distribution networks, transportation and communications grids. A cyber-real-world attack’s high-profile consequences could include widespread service disruption, environmental damage, financial loss, and personal injury. In addition, there is the often daunting task of managing a large number of customers, handling data on usage, payments, and connection status, and dealing with geographically diverse legacy systems.
