DeSci- Decentralised Science and its potential to change the world.

Science has driven progress in human civilisation but it has traditionally been centred around areas rich in economic resources and opportunities. What if DeSci could level the playing field and allow for individuals from anywhere to make new scientific discoveries or contribute to the planet’s challenges?

The problem

Scientific and academic research is highly centralised and bureaucratic. For those of you who have done any postgraduate qualification or a research project; you’ve observed the budgetary constraints, regulations and the need to get every single part of the project signed off by various committees and individuals.

It limits innovation and ground-breaking discoveries because it limits the desire to take a risk or even explore areas of human knowledge that are currently limited. Our current education system incentivises safety, prudeness and conformity.

Whether it’s the academic circles that currently dictate the research standards and approaches that are deemed correct or whether it’s the universities who hold the purse strings for the most innovative areas of research- they are all acting as obstacles for scientific knowledge to emerge.
