Ton has been all the hype of late and for good reason, massive user base, integration with telegram, telegram mini apps, and more. But buying Toncoin (TON) can be a little hard if you’re pressed for time and the exchange you use has not listed it yet.

If you’re lucky and your country allows you to trade via these exchanges, congrats- it’ll be pretty straightforward for you. According to Coinmarketcap, here are the centralized exchange TON is listed on:

  • OKX
  • Bybit
  • Gate.io
  • HTC
  • Bitfinex
  • Kucoin
  • MEXC
  • Bitget
  • Crypto.com
  • BingX

But if you’re like me and don’t use some of these exchanges, here’s what you can do.

Step 1: Download TrustWallet

Register and set up the crypto wallet via trustwallet’s Google Chrome extension or via the mobile app

Step 2: Download a wallet that can store TON

I’m using Tonkeeper, but they have other options on Ton.org.

Step 3: Get ETH and send some ETH to your Trustwallet

You can purchase ETH on most centralized exchanges. I use Coinbase.

  • Go to Trustwallet
  • Click receive and copy your wallet address
  • Go to your chosen CEX
  • Click on send cryptocurrency
  • Paste your trustwallet address
  • Send eth to your trustwallet address

Step 4: Go to a DEX and connect your wallet

Now that you have ETH in your Trustwallet, you need to connect your wallet to a DEX. There are several DEXs to choose from. 1inch, RocketX are some of my options to facilitate the transaction. I chose RocketX.

Step 5: Select TON Network on RocketX

Step 6: Add your Tonkeeper address to the recipient address

Within telegram, open Tonkeeper, click on “receive” to get your wallet address.

And you’re done! You should’ve received some TON in your wallet now.

To recap:

  • You need 2 wallets
  • A wallet within the ethereum network to store eth as your base currency (Trustwallet)
  • A wallet to store TON (Tonkeeper)
  • You need to swap ETH for TON on a DEX (1Inch, RocketX) and send it to a wallet that stores TON

Hope this was helpful!
