The event also saw the debut of Vo, alongside new hardware innovations with Trillium TPUs and the custom ARM-based Axion CPU. Emphasizing the theme of “letting Google do the work for you,” the presentations illustrated how AI is poised to transform search, Android, and educational tools, promising faster, smarter, and more efficient user experiences.
Gemini AI Model:
- Integrated into tools for debugging code, gaining insights, and building next-gen AI applications.
- Significant transformation in Google Search, launching in the US and expanding to more countries and categories.
- Reimagined Android with AI at its core, including AI-powered search and on-device AI for fast experiences while keeping data private.
- Integrated into education, answering specific questions about videos and PDFs.
Project Astra:
- Features agents that process information and interpret what it sees faster through continuous encoding of video frames. It makes us wonder if the “Google Glass” project is making a comeback. Also a bit scary as they showcased a mobile phone reminding the user where she left her belongings as if it was always watching.

A Bipartisan Plan to Regulate AI is here.
A bipartisan group of senators unveiled a 31-page plan to regulate AI, proposing a $32 billion federal investment in AI research and development.
The roadmap, developed by Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer and other lawmakers, recommends that congressional committees create legislation to evaluate AI harms, protect elections, and address AI risks in sectors like healthcare and housing. While Congress debates regulation, AI companies are rapidly advancing their technologies. Schumer suggests a piecemeal legislative approach, with some AI bills potentially passing the Senate by year-end, and ongoing efforts into the next Congress.
