A quick guide on how to set up ledger hardware with your keplr wallet to stake and earn Evmos rewards. (Using Ledger Wallet and Keplr Chrome extension)

Why Ledger?

What you really own when you purchase a crypto token is a private key that grants you access to your funds. This key should only be in your custody, and you must keep it safe.

The best approach to protect your crypto tokens is using a Ledger hardware wallet and the Keplr app. Your hardware wallet stores your private key in a verified secure chip to keep it safe at all times. Only you have access to it. Any transaction must be physically authenticated by you and verified on the trustworthy display of the device.

You have the flexibility to manage your cryptocurrency on your own due to your wallet. You can securely stake, exchange, and develop your crypto tokens with the Keplr app, all in one place.

At the time of writing this, unfortunately, a Ledger and Keplr combination will not function with Evmos straight out of the box. This is a result of how signing is handled.

However, users may now utilize Evmos with their Ledger thanks to the Keplr update v0.11.10. The Keplr upgrade now makes signing possible using the Ethereum app rather than the Cosmos app.

Steps to Follow

The Ethereum software must first be downloaded to your ledger.

Step -1 Open up Ledger Live, download and install updates for Ledger Live, and connect your device.

Go to My Ledger on the left by navigating.

You will see Ethereum near the top of the list of apps to install, if not, search in the box, and click install.

Once installed, you will see this.

Step -2 Click Add account. You will be prompted to open the Ethereum app.

Your ledger should prompt you to open it, but if not, open it manually.

Give it a moment to synchronize, once done, you should be able to create an Account name.

Choose a name of your choice to identify the Ethereum account.

Success!

Step -3 Once you’ve done this, open Keplr in your browser and you will see this when selecting Evmos chain.

Step -4 Now go ahead and connect your device and open the Ethereum app (if not still open)

Congratulations! You can now fund your Keplr Wallet and begin Staking $Evmos

Please note, not all dapps and sites/services currently support keplr with 
the ledger. If you’re having issues with a particular dapp/service you may 
have to use MetaMask.
