Just a few months ago, learning to be a smart contract auditor was more complicated than finding pearls in shells submerged in the Mariana Trench. You had to navigate through various resources and applications to gather the knowledge you needed to get started.
Suddenly the sun came out and we finally had all the knowledge we needed to learn in one place. JohnnyTime’s Smart Contract Hacking Course is a complete course that includes tokens, defi and vulnerabilities, i.e. a 100% effective “how to become”. You have all the information here, although I will have to update the article as @RealJohnnyTime is constantly upgrading the course.
And now we have other space actors moving in this direction. And leading actors with several Oscars behind them. Let me introduce you to Cyfrin Updraft, the Cyfrin Educational platform.
What is Cyfrin Updraft
Cyfrin Updraft is project number 3 of the web security company Cyfrin. It is a learning environment that will initially have the following paths available:

Who is behind Cyfrin Updraft
It is a joint project, but there is one visible head: @PatrickAlphaC.
For years, Patrick Collins has been teaching web3 from different angles, Solidity programming, Hardhat, Foundry… it is impossible to enumerate how much he has given to the community and praise enough how relevant he has been in the training of all of us.
Now, all your training is organised on this platform, to centralise all your training work.
As there is no access yet, I can’t judge if the final result will be positive, but with Cyfrin and Patrick Collins behind it, the hype is at an all-time high.
And the reason is none other than Codehawks First Flights.
Codehawks First Flights
Codehawks First Flights is Cyfrin’s project number 2 and I wrote an article about it when it started. These are small and not-so-small projects, similar to those an auditor might find on contest platforms, but increasing in difficulty so that novice auditors can gradually develop their careers.
And it is incredible. Because from number 1, a simple code about passwords, to the third one I was involved in, a complete flash loan protocol, we were able to analyse, test, document and be judged as on any platform, but with deliberately broken code.
In this case, yes, after testing it, I have to say that it is one of the great ideas and one of the best resources to become a smart contract auditor.
Conclusions
2023 is officially the year of web3 security. At long last, a variety of options are being built from the ground up to put the careers of future auditors on the right track.
Being passionate about teaching and security, I am really enjoying all these moves and look forward to discovering more of this platform.
