Releasing a blog about beginning a path into crypto during a bear market may not be the best for SEO purposes. General sentiment towards crypto has turned overwhelmingly negative. Unsurprisingly, when the 10x returns stops and people begin to experience severe losses, attitudes towards the market will not be as favourable as they once was. It would be easy to point the figure towards the devastation of the Terra/Luna protocol and the overleveraged mess at 3 Arrows Capital, as the cause of a spiralling downturn. However, though the two were undeniable catalysts, it is just two of many reasons why crypto took a sharp turn for the worst. The global market has been on choppy waters since the Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, back in February 2022. Worse, by nature Crypto is an extremely volatile asset class and so was harshly affected by global uncertainty.

Nevertheless, though Crypto is on its knees, it is primed to disrupt every day life as we currently see it. The technology behind it, blockchain, is here to stay, despite critics, who often only see the face value of overpriced JPEGs, that argue it as a niche fad that will be a blip in technological history.

While Crypto is entering what many coin as a winter, it is during this instance where developers, are indoors creating, experimenting and innovating ideas that will fuel the next bull run. The crypto winter is possibly here, and if so, it may seem that the space is baron and deserted. However, those who look past popular media coverage will discover a number to projects inside building and developing an innovative space. Therefore, the crypto winter is an opportune time for those curious and willing enough to accumulate knowledge, and execute on the information before the inevitable heard known as normies arrive.

Ignorant recommendations

The two recommendations are picks that personally helped me begin my crypto journey. I discovered DCLblogger and The Defiant both on the same day, in February 2021. I stumbled onto the two while browsing my YouTube recommendations. I remember clicking on a video by the DCLBlogger that was entitled ‘Seven figure digital art sale’. A title like that was instantly intriguing, and I found myself shocked that it was not a clickbait. I soon watched several other videos by DCLblogger that primarily covered the NFT market and crypto games.

Notably, because of DCLBlogger I bought the crypto, Polygon(MATIC) when it was $0.33. Polygon reached an all time high of $2.88 dollars in December 2021, accruing a gain of over 750%. I sold some which netted me £150~ in profit by still currently hold the majority of my initial investment. DCLBlogger provides unbiased, content which is reinforced by his experience in the market since 2017. Having several successes and experience during the bear, makes his perspective invaluable to individual navigating the crypto winter.

The second recommendation, The Defiant, connects informative crypto content with high quality video production. The quality of the videos completely sets the channel apart from any other channel. Many of their videos present information as if it were from a movie, and this is credit to the host, Robin, whom has a background in video making. High quality looking videos makes the educational and news content entertaining to watch, something most viewers will not find boring.

The Defiant is far from a channel that aims to hype watchers in the latest coin/token or dapp (dencentralised applications). The focus of the channel is Defi (decentralised finance), but also covers NFTs. Its execution delivers critical content on the whole market while maintaining bipartisan values. The Defiant tells it how it is, making watchers understand that though there are many opportunities for huge gains, there are equally, if not more, chances to suffer substantial losses. The Defiant brings awareness to individuals, providing consistent updates on news and the knowledge to confidently act upon this information.
