Part 4 of 6 ways to Make Money in & around the Metaverse
You’ll find almost everyone discussing about the crypto bills, taxes, NFTs, cryptocurrencies but all of these have been around for a while now. The Big Tech companies are now shifting towards the Virtual World called the Metaverse. Tech startups have begun to come up with creative solutions to what people have been facing with blockchain or in the Metaverse itself.
We are really pushing the limits of what we thought would be possible in the Metaverse. One such example is the Fashion Event that is scheduled to happen in the Metaverse or a harry potter themed marriage.
From the outside it might look like Metaverse is just for the people and companies with deep pockets but that’s not true. In these series of articles we bring you 6 ways in which you can make yourself ready for the wave of opportunities that Metaverse has brought and will bring in the future.
This is part 4 of the 6 ways to Make Money in and around the Metaverse. In case, you want to check the previous 3 articles, they can be found here.
The previous three were more towards the creative side and required you to focus more on the appearance, drawing and the architecture but this one is more towards the technical side and this is what most of us have been drifting towards lately.
We are talking about coding. The pandemic highlighted the importance of coding and automating things so that we could focus more on what we value. Coding gives you the opportunity and flexibility of working from your desk and to learn new technologies every day. This also means that you can contribute to your company and work from any where in the world and do not require physical presence.
The artists can create NFTs, the architects can make 3D models and spaces, but at the end of the day you’ll need someone who can code all of this.
Would NFTs, Metaverse and Cryptocurrencies and Smart Contracts be booming had there been no blockchain? I think the answer is quite clear.
Times have changed. The next billion dollar idea is actually in your mind and waiting to be executed. This is what has been happening with children (specifically under the age of 16 in US). If you have heard of this platform called Roblox then you know what I’m talking about. But for those who don’t know here’s a summary.
Roblox is an American Company that let’s you create and play games. The platform is free for anyone and you can create your own games or the games created by others in the platform. But how does this bring you cash? Well, you can create NFTs, avatars or anything that is an offspring of your creative juices and see it in your game. The users will have to buy it with a token called Robux. Once you have Robux you can exchange it for real money with their program called the Developer Exchange Program.
What can you do?
Learn to code. Have a bigger picture in the mind otherwise you’ll lose motivation soon. If you want to get into web development and create fancy looking websites for your favorite projects and your brand, start by learning HTML, CSS and JS. You can then move towards learning other frameworks like React, Django, NextJS, etc.
Once you begin you will know which developer you want to be. What framework do you want to master.
If you want to get into software development, you can start by learning C, C# or Java. I know python, ruby are the trending languages these days, but the problem is that they have in-build packages so you will never run the basics of anything. To learn the basics, you’ll need to take the tougher route. You’ll need to dedicate your time learning Data Structures, and Algorithms. You can apply your learning on sites like CodeChef, LeetCode, etc. by solving practice problems.
But you want to be a Web3 Developer, you’ll need to learn about Blockchain, particularly Ethereum. Because most of the projects and smart contracts out there are built on Ethereum. Luckily there isn’t a lot to choose from and so your changes of losing motivation and going hay-wire or off the track are very low. The language you can learn is Solidity.
This was the 4th way that you could be ready for the opportunities that will be brought by the Metaverse. In the next couple of articles, we’ll be discussing 2 more ways to prepare yourself for the future.
