It is very important for investors to be able to continuously track the performance of their portfolio, but often this can become tricky when investments are on different trading platforms and in different types of securities.

A novel way to track performance is to use a simple Google Sheets document. Google Finance has made it very easy for anybody, even those who are not tech savvy, to set up a portfolio tracker in a couple of minutes.

Here are some useful formulae to that can be used to stocks:

Company Name =GOOGLEFINANCE(B2,"name")

Share Price =GOOGLEFINANCE(B2,"price")

Market Cap = =GOOGLEFINANCE(B2,"marketcap")

Daily Price Change =GOOGLEFINANCE(B2,"changepct")

Price to Earnings Ratio =GOOGLEFINANCE(B2,"PE")

(Note: in the formula above the B2 refers the cell in the google sheets doc that has the ticker symbol for the stock you wish to add. E.g the ticker for Air Bnb is ABNB, Paypal is PYPL etc)

Unfortunately, Google Finance does not support cryptocurrencies at the moment, but there is a work around.

It is possible to pull prices from the CoinMarketCap website straight into your google docs sheet using some simple formula.

Follow these steps:
