The Impact Of Web 3.0 Adoption on DAO
The words Change is constant have never been truer.
This is especially for an ever-changing atmosphere such as the web. The internet has not always been the way it is right now.
Here’s a little fact for you: The internet has evolved over the years, and some people aren’t aware of this!
The evolution of the internet has been going on since its inception.
From the 1980s, when it was first designed, till now, it has gone through some exciting changes. These changes have given rise to its new features. You may recognize them as standard web pages, social media, e-commerce websites, and now, NFTs.
The web has changed a lot from what it was in web 1.0 to everything it is now in web 3.0. So that leads us to a crucial question, what is web 3.0?
What is Web 3.0?
The question on everyone’s lips and maybe yours is; what is web 3.0, and why does it matter?
Web 3.0 was originally called Semantic Web by Tim Berner’s-Lee, who is the inventor of the web. Web 3.0 is an advanced and improved version of the internet that utilizes decentralization powered by the blockchain.
Put simply, it is a smarter decentralized version of the web.
The idea of Web 3.0 is exciting since it is an upgrade that improves on the drawbacks of web 2.0 and 1.0 that existed before it. This means that web 3.0 solves issues revolving around transparency, privacy, and security.
Web 3.0 has been able to present to us something that the previous webs could not: NFTs and Decentralized Autonomous Organizations.
Maybe I should do a little background work on what DAOs are first.
What is DAO?
DAO stands for decentralized autonomous organization. The word decentralized means not controlled by a single institution.
The Decentralized Autonomous Organization was originally designed by a group of developers whose main aim was to automate decision making. They did this while allowing investors from anywhere in the world to send money anonymously, hence the name Decentralized AUTONOMOUS Organization.
Not many, even though Decentralized Autonomous Organizations have recently been getting more popular, they have been around since 2016. DAOs are popular for two major things: their lack of a central authority and their decision-making through free and fair voting. Thus, allowing everyone to have a say.
Enough about DAO.
Let’s delve into how web 3.0 adoption will impact the organization.
How will web 3.0 adoption impact DAO?
Web 3.0 promises to transform the operations of users on the internet completely. As I go on, I’ll discuss the impact that web 3.0 has on DAO.
Financial services industries
One of the major influences that web 3.0 adoption will have on DAO is significantly changing the way investment opportunities are being accessed. The adoption of web 3.0 has made investing easier. It makes it possible to access these opportunities without the presence of accredited investors or even restrictions on net assets.
The interrelation of web 3.0 and DAOs has led to a revolutionary route to the development of platforms and businesses without the need to rely on the traditional forms of financing.
It’s simple really.
Web 3.0 has enabled DAOs to allow massive communities to work in sync even without the presence of a constituting authority or leadership.
The reality is that web 3.0 has impacted decentralized Autonomous Organizations so much that it has resulted in open, transparent, and permissionless communication, meaning it will allow users to interact without the need to seek permission from a governing body or authority.
If you’re wondering what this means for the financial industry, I’ll tell you. It means that there will be a skyrocketed growth in the number of decentralized financial platforms available.
Non-profit Organizations
Web 3.0 is revolutionizing climate conservation DAOs. The News have it that Earth Fund, which is a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (founded by Jeff Bezos), has recently adopted web 3.0.
This is a big leap that will help the organization to include everyone in its objectives of climate conservation. This way, it won’t just be the norm of excluding some people from important deliberations.
Earth Fund’s adoption of web 3.0 has helped them to achieve their goals of democratic participation. This enables a transparent voting process that helps the DAO fund the worthiest projects that will make the biggest impact.
The adoption of web 3.0 by Erath Fund has made them stand out from several other climate conservation organizations.
Apart from the fact that they are transparently funding climate conservation projects, they have also been able to amass thousands of supporters around the world. And I can boldly say that its web 3.0 and blockchain adoption plays a huge role in all of this.
Security
It is also worthy to note that the web 3.0 adoption has given rise to safety in internet operations.
Let me explain…
Have you ever collaborated on the internet with people you do not know? Your answer is most likely yes.
The good thing about the adoption of web 3.0 by DAOs is that they allow for safe interactions with strangers. This point cannot be overemphasized, especially when it has to do with entrusting or committing funds for different purposes, just like the point I highlighted about Earth Fund’s project funding.
Wrap Up
There are two truths that you should take home.
- The impact of web 3.0 on DAOs cuts across different fields/industries
- DAOs have the potential to explode, especially in 2022.
You can expect to see more of web 3.0 and DAOs. Many of these organizations, such as Bankless, KilmaDao, and MakerDao are already very popular at the moment.
If you’ve noticed by now, every evolution phase of the internet brings a whole list of exciting features.
Web 1.0 brought us the basic web pages, web 2.0 gifted us social media platforms, and now web 3.0 has presented us with amazing NFTs and DAOs.
I can’t imagine the untold things that web 4.0 has to offer. Do you wonder about that also?
