The power of Movement:
How to engage in it early

--

Introduction
The power of originality is what differentiates high-valued blockchain projects from lesser ones. Modularity instead of monolithic, proof of stake instead of proof of work, decentralized instead of centralized. One isn’t always better than the other. Or it might be better but face a set of problems their counterpart did not even knew existed. But it is different, interesting, tells a story and is therefore worth diving into.

Movement is a prime example of one of these projects, explained in three chapters.

Chapter 1: Interplanetary language
The Move language is a newly developed programming language, powering the MoveVM. A virtual machine that works within the MovementSDK. The language is written by employees from Facebook, that in 2019, worked on their personal blockchain initiative. This was first labelled ‘Libra’ but got changed to Diem shortly after.

Their goal was to create a language that adhered specifically to blockchain applications. Scarcity, access control and prevention of duplication or unintended loss of assets.

Since the launch of the Move language and blockchain projects like Sui and Aptos, there has been a lower proneness to attacks, lower fees, higher adaptability, and less computation power needed than Solidity and the Solana EVM.

Chapter 2: Modularity and immutability
Due to the modular nature of Movement, it has been able to choose the modules that best fit their needs. It currently uses the Move language for its execution layer, Ethereum as the settlement layer and Celestia for its Dava availability layer. This modular combination designs high smart contract security with parallelization with EVM liquidity and its user base, but also creates an immutability that no blockchain has seen before.

Once a smart contract or asset is deployed in the Move ecosystem, there is no longer a way to change its state.

Chapter 3: Engagement opportunities
To engage in spreading the word of Movement, the team is launching multiple campaigns. The most engaging one is running on Zealy quests (https://zealy.io/cw/movementlabsxyz/invite/VYYf6T120mqTnRk64nktL), where you gain engagement opportunities by spreading the word of Movement, or engaging in talks and quizzes.

The timetable for these are usually scheduled through Discord (https://discord.gg/pQfxyNHh).

To differentiate yourself as a builder, you can connect with the team through the Open Builders Program: https://form.asana.com/?k=Xl2xu7DRyoQ-yUY-zMlnTg&d=1204965688263751.
