It appears that in our very generation, where innovation reigns supreme, the mere whisper of "Tashi" should ignite a sense of promise— I’m talking about a promise of prosperity and transformation. After lots of research, I found out “Tashi” itself is a word steeped in possibility, carrying within it the very essence of fortune waiting to be seized and trust me when I spit this, Tashi Protocol is not just another project in the vast expanse of decentralized networks and Web3 innovations, but a luminous beacon of potential— an excellent transformative force poised to bridge dreams with reality and mere looking at its genesis, Tashi Protocol has harbored a singular vision: to embolden and uplift the entire Web3 ecosystem. But it’s more than just a project; it’s a seismic catalyst for change, standing resolute at the crossroads of technology, community, and impact.

At the inception of their journey in November 2022, the Tashi engineering team embarked on a groundbreaking mission, marked by the completion of a proof of concept known as the Tashi Consensus Engine (TCE). This pivotal moment marked the genesis of their vision to reshape the landscape of multiplayer gaming through decentralized consensus mechanisms. Talking about TCE, it's a tool used by the Tashi engineering team to gradually but firmly establish trust in the COSMOS of gaming. Wondering how? Well, it is not a news that in the vast expanse of multiplayer gaming, trust stands as the cornerstone, more like a beacon guiding players through the cosmic dance of fair play, integrity, and equality. Made an entry, Tashi Consensus Engine (TCE) - an extraordinary force that confronts cheating, orchestrates fairness, and cultivates a tapestry of trust across decentralized game worlds. Generally, cheating in Gaming is a pervasive imbalance that threatens to disrupt the very essence of gameplay. From aimbots to wallhacks, exploits to collusion, the gaming universe wrestles with these dark forces. They (cheaters) disrupt the cosmic harmony, leaving honest players disillusioned and trust fractured. More likely, TCE operates in asynchronous harmony, devoid of a “central conductor”, and scales linearly with the number of nodes - minimizing latency impact. I must say, TCE's engines roar with unparalleled vigor, propelling high-throughput solutions. It serves as the cosmic highway through which game events flow seamlessly, while it also ensures fair sequencing of events, devoid of cosmic favoritism. Every player receives updates in the correct cosmic sequence, banishing the spectre of lag-induced disruptions, of which Dynamite —was born as a result of the union between TCE and Unity game engines.

Spurred on by the success of this proof of concept, the Tashi business development team embarked on an exhaustive exploration to identify the ideal industry for TCE’s application. Through meticulous evaluation spanning various sectors—from synchronized databases to decentralized social networks—the gaming industry emerged as the prime contender.

Speaking on Tashi's “High throughput”, referring to systems or mechanisms capable of processing a large volume of data or transactions within a given timeframe, TCE's high-throughput solutions enable it to efficiently handle a vast number of game events and player actions in real-time. Emphasis on its throughput, I didn't find it hard to believe that TCE is able to achieve 300,000 TPS with a low latency of 30ms, and a high of 70ms.

I get it. You're not a technical person as I am, but let's break those numbers down, shall we?..… The numbers provided represent the performance metrics of the Tashi Consensus Engine (TCE) in terms of transactions per second (TPS) and latency:

  • 300,000 TPS: This figure indicates the maximum number of transactions that TCE can process within a single second. In this case, TCE is capable of handling over one million transactions per second, showcasing its remarkable throughput capabilities.
  • Low Latency of 30ms: The low latency value of 30ms represents the shortest delay observed among transactions processed by TCE. This indicates that some transactions experience relatively minimal delays, resulting in faster confirmation times compared to the average latency.
  • High Latency of 70ms: Conversely, the high latency value of 70ms represents the longest delay observed among transactions processed by TCE. This indicates that certain transactions may experience higher-than-average delays, potentially due to network congestion or other factors.

This is a significant milestone for public ledger applications. Not only can TCE be tuned for low-latency applications like gaming with throughput that is significantly higher than other DLT protocols, TCE can be tuned for high throughput applications with 2-3 orders of magnitude more TPS than most mainstream public layer 1 and layer 2 networks.

In addition to its groundbreaking consensus mechanism and seamless multiplayer capabilities, Tashi Protocol also boasts remarkable energy efficiency. With an astonishingly low energy consumption of just 0.02 Wh per transaction, TCE stands as a beacon of sustainability in the gaming industry. This impressive feat not only minimizes the environmental impact of gaming activities but also underscores Tashi Protocol’s commitment to responsible and eco-friendly technology solutions.

In an exclusive interview with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Tashi Protocol, I delved into the design choices that contribute to this eco-friendly approach.

When asked about the factors behind TCE’s exceptional energy efficiency, the COO highlighted several cosmic design choices that set Tashi Protocol apart:

1. Decentralized and Serverless Framework

- Cosmic Shift: Tashi’s architecture orbits away from traditional gaming infrastructure. It embraces a decentralized, serverless framework - a P2P methodology that diverges from the reliance on centralized servers

- Cost Constellations: By eliminating centralized servers, Tashi significantly lowers the infrastructure costs traditionally associated with online gaming. It’s like trading rocket fuel for stardust—efficient and cost-effective.

- Cosmic Reliability: The decentralized nature enhances reliability. No single point of failure; no cosmic black holes. The system becomes resilient to outages and performance bottlenecks.

2. Mesh Multiplayer Technology: TCE promised to revolutionize multiplayer gaming, ushering in a new era of serverless, leaderless, peer-to-peer interaction, now christened "mesh multiplayer."
-Cosmic Fusion: At the core of Tashi's architecture lies the Mesh Multiplayer technology. It's a groundbreaking backend system—a cosmic forge where dedicated server stability waltzes with P2P scalability.

- Equitable Distribution: Mesh Multiplayer ensures a fair distribution of computational tasks among players. Imagine cosmic resources flowing seamlessly, like starlight through the void.

- Reduced Latency: By decentralizing game logic, Mesh Multiplayer substantially reduces the latency commonly associated with online multiplayer games. It's like folding space-time for smoother gameplay.

- Resilience to Network Fluctuations: The mesh network adapts gracefully to changes in network conditions. Even when cosmic winds shift, game stability remains unwavering.

3. Tashi SDK (TNT): Its intuitive tools and comprehensive documentation empower developers to unleash their creativity and build immersive multiplayer experiences that transcend traditional boundaries.
- Cosmic Toolkit: TheTashi Software Development Kit (TNT) - a celestial toolbox. It weaves constellations across game engines.

- Multi-Platform Harmony: TNT harmonizes with Unity (already live), Unreal (in progress), and Godot (also in progress). Developers from distant galaxies find their cosmic groove.

- Ease of Use: Its user-friendliness invites developers to join the cosmic dance. Clear documentation, intuitive tools.

Continuing our exploration of Tashi Protocol’s cosmic journey, Tashi Protocol emerges as a beacon of interoperability — a cosmic nexus that bridges disparate worlds and fosters collaboration across decentralized ecosystems.
1. EVM-Compatible Cosmos: Bridging Worlds
Within this cosmic expanse, Tashi Protocol finds its place as part of the Evmos ecosystem, where it harmonizes seamlessly with Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) standards. This alignment enables Tashi to transcend the boundaries of individual blockchains and communicate effortlessly with Ethereum and other EVM-compatible chains. Through this cosmic connection, Tashi Protocol opens new pathways for cross-chain asset transfers, smart contract interactions, and decentralized applications, enriching the fabric of the blockchain universe.
But Tashi's interoperability transcends mere technical bridges; it represents a cosmic handshake—a gesture of unity and collaboration across distant galaxies of blockchain ecosystems. Like cosmic wormholes connecting distant star systems, Tashi Protocol enables assets and data to flow seamlessly between different blockchains, fostering interoperability and synergy among disparate platforms. Developers from distant galaxies can harness the power of Tashi Protocol while tapping into the cosmic wisdom and capabilities of other Layer 1 blockchains, unlocking new possibilities for innovation, collaboration, and cross-pollination of ideas in the decentralized cosmos.

Consensus Mechanisms

Exploring the intricate mechanics of Tashi Protocol unveils a fascinating aspect known as the ‘gossip protocol’ —a concept intricately intertwined with the network’s functionality. Termed "gossip about gossip," this protocol draws inspiration from the hashgraph framework and plays a pivotal role in how information propagates within the Tashi ecosystem. Unlike conventional gossip protocols, Tashi’s approach extends beyond the transmission of raw data; it encompasses the dissemination of information about the source of that data. In essence, peers not only share the events they’ve encountered but also provide insights into how they obtained this information.
Central to this protocol is the notion of an "event," comprising essential metadata such as data, timestamps, and hashes of preceding events. This comprehensive dataset, referred to as the "signable event," is signed by the originating peer. Moreover, the "hashable event," which includes the signature, serves as a crucial reference point for subsequent events. Notably, Tashi's consensus model diverges from hashgraph by accommodating multiple other-parents, enhancing network resilience and flexibility. The outcome of this gossip-centric model is the gradual construction of a directed acyclic graph (DAG), meticulously crafted by each participating peer. Although initial DAG states may vary among peers, the application of a virtual voting algorithm harmonizes network consensus, ensuring coherence and synchronization. Embedded within Tashi Protocol's decentralized fabric, the gossip protocol fosters efficient and secure information exchange, underpinning the network's integrity and cohesion.

Building upon our exploration of Tashi Protocol's consensus mechanisms, let's now delve into the intricacies of virtual voting—a cornerstone of decentralized decision-making within the network.

This innovative approach, distinct from conventional direct voting methods, offers a robust and decentralized means of reaching consensus among network peers. Virtual voting operates within the framework of a Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) generated through the gossip protocol, reflecting the network’s decentralized nature. Unlike conventional voting systems, Tashi’s virtual voting algorithm divides events into rounds, assigns witness events, and determines event order based on the DAG’s structure. Through a meticulous process of dividing rounds, deciding fame, and finding order, virtual voting ensures the creation of a deterministic sequence of events. This sequence, independently calculated by each peer, guarantees consistency and integrity across the Tashi network, fostering trust and reliability in decentralized consensus. With virtual voting at its core, Tashi Protocol pioneers a new era of decentralized governance, empowering participants to collaboratively shape the network’s evolution while upholding the principles of fairness and transparency.

As we draw our exploration to a close, it’s evident that Tashi Protocol embodies a paradigm shift in decentralized network architecture.

However, our journey is far from over. Tashi Protocol continues to evolve, with exciting new features on the horizon. From enhanced scalability to cutting-edge interoperability solutions, the future of Tashi Protocol holds boundless potential.

Indeed, it's no wonder that Tashi is named after the Tibetan word for "good fortune." Just as its namesake symbolizes auspicious beginnings, Tashi Protocol paves the way for a future where decentralized technologies empower individuals and communities worldwide.
